Ruth 3:13-17
"Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel! And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for you daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him." Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him. Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, "There is a son born to Naomi." And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

1.) The statement "There is a son born to Naomi." was made because the name of her husband and sons had been redeemed according to the Levitical law of kinsman redemption. Boaz and Ruth were the instruments who successfully brought the fulfillment of the redemption to Naomi.

2.) Obed--means servant or worshipper. The redemption brought to Naomi from Boaz and Ruth produces servants and worshippers.

3.) The greatest Servant and Worshipper ever was also made possible through Ruth and Boaz's act of fulfilling the law of kinsman redemption. Obed was the father of Jesse and Jesse was the father of David, the linage leading to Jesus Christ of Nazareth the Messiah.
Matthew 1:1-16--The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers...Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king....And Ja cob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who was called Christ.
A.) Ruth the gentile was instrumental in ushering in the birth of our Savior. It was her perserverance and obedient desire to follow God's ways becoming one of His people, that paved the path for the linage of Christ.

4.) If you dig deep you can find some hidden treasure in this book. We have already suggested Ruth as a representative of the Christian church who have a deep desire for their brethren, the Jew. Keeping that in mind and then likening Boaz to our Father in heaven, we can divulge and interesting unfolding.

A.) Naomi's family had all died. That which supplied the needs of Naomi, her husband and then sons, were taken away. She was left with nothing.

B.) But God did not leave her in the cold instead he raised up her daughter-in-law to take the role of provider. It was Ruth who went into the field and worked to bring the bread (the True Word of God). Theis Bread brought by Ruth g ave life to Naomi. Without Ruth Naomi might not have received the Bread.

C.) Recall in the recount of the story, however, Boaz seen the efforts which Ruth had put forth and ordered His servants to throw out an abundant measure of Grain so that Ruth could collect it. The same is true of God. He provide us with an abundant supply. He sends his
servants (man and angels alike) to bring the abundance needed, that we might fulfill His commission. He prov ides us with all we need, we just have to be willing to be the vessel or "worker in the vineyard declaring the word of the Lord."
Boaz (God) provided the grain (life) and Ruth (the Church) was the worker who brought it to Naomi (the Jew).

5.) Naomi (the Jew) played a role also. She showed Ruth (the Church) the ways of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Ruth wanted to embrace all that Naomi had to offer. In fact Naomi (the Jew), was very instrumental in making the was for the birth of our Savior, by holding everyone in account to the law of kinsman redemption that was instituted by God. Ruth (the Church) played a significant part, also by being obedient to the law and carring it out. She was unselfish, thinking about Naomi (the Jew) and carrying on her name.

6.) Together Boaz God) and Ruth (the Church) brought redemption to Naomi (the Jew). God ie going to use the Church to bring redemption to the Jews by telling them about the Redeemer. The jews will see the undeniable true love that the Church as for them and how the church desires to know and learn the true ways of the God of heaven and earth. That is when they will see the Messiah.

7.) When the women were speaking of the redeeming son they said. "and may his name be famous in Israel! And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher..." Jesus will restore life to the Jewish people and His name Is famous in Israel (the house of Israel).
