Be still and know that I am God

You know of course that today’s world is hectic, fast paced and generally seems to be chaotic at times. We as drivers see people in a race to go nowhere and experience road rage, shippers and receivers that seem rude or running around like a chicken with there heads missing. So what should we do so as not to fall in that trap? Well, let’s look at what the Bible tells us. Isaiah 6:16 Thus says the LORD:
“Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Hebrews 4;7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:
“ Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

So as we review the above scriptures we learn in Isaiah that when we are laden we find rest. In Matthew we find that God wants us to take his yoke upon us and by following and learning and being in Gods will we will find rest. Hebrews states that Gods people will indeed find rest. In Psalms it starts with the fact that God is our refuge our strength. And no matter what desolation we see around our nation we find that God is in the midst and will help. And most importantly we see in vs. 10 we need to be still and know that He is God. That’s right be still, as in Proverbs 3:5-6 says we need to trust God with all our hearts, in all ways acknowledge him and He shall direct our paths. That’s something we all should strive to do every second of the day. Dr. Charles Stanley says we should look past what we can see to what God sees. Obviously we can’t but if we step out side of that box that we live in and look to what Gods plan for us is then there would be changes in all our lives. What change you ask? Well, think of the witness that would present. The view that non believers would see as opposed to the view they see now. A Christian, in Gods will and not giving that confusing witness saying one thing but doing something else entirely. A Christian at rest in the Lord, In His will a representation of the true Christ the Christ that is in each of us. We should draw closer take that relationship with God very serious and we will find the guidance, wisdom, rest, and most of the love that we seek. Then we can be still and we know that HE IS GOD!
