AROUND THE WORLD IN SEVEN PROPHECIES

Seven Churches in Need of God’s renewing Power

1. EPHESUS------A city of great importance in Asia Minor, home of the temple of Artemis. In greatness it was rivaled only by Alexandria and Antioch.
The Church----Diagnosis: Had shown signs of strength in the past but is now wavering in the faith and in danger of losing its first love.
Treatment: Do the works you did at first.
Prognosis: With repentance comes hope

2. SMYRNA:------Located 40 miles from Ephesus, a city of riches and splendor crowned with temples and other important buildings.
The Church----Diagnosis: Although the church is located in a beautiful and powerful city, it is being persecuted. Suffering lies ahead.
Treatment: Remain steadfast. Practice endurance in the faith.
Prognosis: The crown of life is given to those who endure.

3. PERGAMUM--Famous for its great religious monuments. In the city was a temple dedicated to Augustus and Rome. Worshipping Idols
The Church--Diagnosis: The church has been strong, but is tempted to incorporate to much of other religions (Balaam)
Treatment: Repent and renew true worship.
Prognosis: To all who conquers is given hidden manna. (special gifts)

4. THYATIRA----A Macedonian military colony and a garrison for soldiers, the city also housed many trade guilds.
The Church--Diagnosis: A church of good works, but one who tolerates a false prophetess.
Treatment: The faithful must hold fast. No compromise with the false prophet.
Prognosis: For those who hold fast, authority will come.

5. SARDIS-------Important town of athletics, Sardis was the home of two gymnasiums.
The Church--Diagnosis: The church is dead, or at least on its deathbed.
Treatment: Remember what you have heard. Wake up!
Prognosis: There is still time for those who repent.

6. PHILADELPHIA—“Little Athens” A center of Greek culture. The city was a center of education.
The Church—Diagnosis: A church with very little power, but one that has remained faithful.
Treatment: Hold fast to what you have.
Prognosis: Faithfulness will make the church a pillar in the temple of God.

7. LAODICEA—A marketing and agricultural center, Laodicea was at a commercial crossroads.
The Church---Diagnosis: Big problem! Self-satisfied indifference, neither hot or cold.
Treatment: Answer the door of faith.
